Bio
I like to think I’m a renaissance man. Born and reared in Baton Rouge, most of my career has been surrounding education, community outreach, and communication—fields that have shaped both my professional journey and personal mission.
Currently, I serve as Chief of Staff for the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC), where I drive day-to-day operations and talent development for this postsecondary-access nonprofit serving under-resourced students from 8th grade to careers. I had the honor of being BRYC’s first alumni director in 2017, helping grow our alumni network from 280 to 800 members. It now sits at nearly 1,000 alumni.
My entrepreneurial spirit emerged early. In 2012, I co-founded 2BrokeGuys, a group that advocated for community organizations through social media promotion, public speaking, and project management. Two years later, I channeled that energy into JWH, LLC, where we focus on helping clients achieve their goals through strategic communication.
Beyond my primary roles, I’ve been teaching as an adjunct professor with both LSU’s Manship School and the LSU Honors College since Fall 2022, speaking weekly to lecture halls of hundreds of students and sharing my passion for communications with the next generation. I’m also deeply involved in community leadership through Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Leadership Baton Rouge Alumni, and the international Chief of Staff Association.
I’m grateful for recent recognitions including the LSU Black Alumni Distinguished Young Alumni award, the Public Relations Association of Louisiana’s Practitioner of the Year, and being named to top 40 under 40 lists both locally and nationally. Under my leadership, BRYC has been regularly recognized as a Best Place to Work in Baton Rouge and, nationally, earned spots on the NonProfit Times’s Best NonProfits to Work For list.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a minor in Spanish from LSU, and a master’s in applied positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Instruction & Communication Training
With years of experience teaching thousands of students across LSU’s Manship School and Honors College, I specialize in social media strategy, branding, and communications training. My signature lecture, “Flourishing Online: The Well-Being of Social Media,” uses positive psychology principles to help individuals and organizations transform their digital presence from a source of anxiety into a tool for authentic connection and growth. From intimate workshops to 250+ person lecture halls, I bring practical, research-based approaches to digital wellness and strategic communication.
Positive Psychology & Personal Development
As a positive psychology practitioner with a master’s from the U Penn, I help individuals, teams, and organizations unlock their potential for flourishing. Whether through one-on-one coaching sessions or comprehensive organizational assessments, I use evidence-based frameworks like PERMA, along with tools such as the Enneagram, Emergenetics, and VIA Character Strengths to foster individual growth and collective success.
Team and Organizational Development
Either through custom built systems or through frameworks such as the Enneagram, Emergenetics, or VIA Character Strengths, we can help your team further develop in their individual and corporate growth.
Motivational Speaking
Personally, I’ve experienced two life changing moments that I hope can be used for greater purposes than myself – suffering a broken neck after a nearly fatal car accident and losing over 260lbs. Life is a journey a hopeful marathon, not a sprint. I aim to inspire others along the way.
